Clinically executed corners.

The Ladies 1s travelled to their furthest away game of the league to meet St Albans 2s. A delayed pushback saw a shortened warm up but Ipswich kept focus on the task at hand.

The game started off with Ipswich applying high pressure and setting the tone. A few forced balls from Ipswich caused them to have to work hard to win back possession. The defensive line won back the possession with some excellent interceptions from Emma Logan. The ball got worked up the pitch effortlessly but ended with a near miss off the back line. The forward line ran and pressed well to delay St Albans attack. A short lived attack ending along the midfield line. Every player was involved and worked as an effective team to defend any attack St Albans tried. Some awesome counter attacks from midfielder Poppy Dring-Richardson lead to more chances for Ipswich and allowing them to keep the pressure high. Their efforts paid off when Kate Wingar broke the deadlock firing her shot into the back of the net. 1-0 up.

St Albans found their way through Ipswich and won the first corner of the game. A strong first and second phase saves from GK and POTM Emerald Green, who denied St Albans chances of levelling the game. Working the ball back up the left with Charlotte Satchwell finding Taylor Ball who then found found Chloe Williams, who wins Ipswich first corner. And Lizzy Wheelhouse scores their first corner and second goal for Ipswich. 2-0 up. The intensity didn’t let up, with the midfield line controlling the tempo and supporting within their line. A few chances for St Albans also came but some more great saves from Emerald, keeping them out.

In the second half, Ipswich did come under the cosh a bit more but stayed calm and another counter gave Ipswich another chance and yet another near miss. More solid defensive efforts from Kat Wrinch and Keisha H-B. Another circle entry for midfield Sophie Sexton came close also. Corner for St Albans awarded but more well organised defence from Emerald kept them out. Up the other end, Taylor Ball wins Ipswich a corner and a second phase shot from Captain Lucy Dunnett puts them 3-0 up. Ipswich worked hard in the middle of the pitch denying St Albans a way through. Playing the percentages well, more chances for Ipswich. Only one nervy moment, a second phase save off the line from Emma Logan kept St Albans goalless and out of options.

A clinical performance for Ipswich as the game ended 3-0. More goals, a clean sheet for Emerald and some debut goal scorers for the season!

Ipswich host Norwich Dragons at TR for an early midday pushback. Can they continue their winning streak…? Come down and find out.
