Last weekend saw the 1st XIs evidence that they are rather good at home, but not so strong on the road, but that’s not unique to Ipswich, perhaps it has something to do with more and more activities in everyone’s world or it might also have something to do with Ipswich Town being in the premier league! That said, both 1st XIs put in impressive performances and came away with 2 big wins. Reports are below from the Men’s 1s, Women’s 5s (everyone’s favourite team) and last week’s report from the Women’s 3s; please do scroll through and note wally of the week in the Women’s 5s; I’ve been there!
There was also a wealth of junior matches that took place last weekend along with training - U16 boys winning away at H&W in London, U14 girls winning in Hertford and sadly losing Peterborough and the U12 boys and U12 girls performing very well indeed at their east tournaments. Well done.
Enjoy the coming weekend and for those attending pub golf, remember to be on your best behaviour!

Ipswich Men’s 1s vs. Blueharts Men’s 1s
Ipswich bounced back in style with a hard-fought 2-0 victory over Blueharts, following their disappointing defeat to Saffron Walden last week.
Despite being short-handed with just 12 players available, including a seamless debut from the young talented South African Marley Waspe, Ipswich displayed resilience and tactical discipline, sticking to their game plan throughout the match. Blueharts proved to be a solid and well-organised side, showing good movement and creating moments of danger. However, Ipswich weathered the storm and opened the scoring in the 1st half thanks to a brilliant reverse-stick strike from Sam Lyne. Providing his first goal of the season when his team needed it. The goal was a piece of individual brilliance, and Lyne’s performance earned him the well-deserved man of the match award. Blueharts weren’t out of it yet, and they came close to an equaliser. But Ipswich keeper Thomas Cherry pulled off an exceptional point-blank save, preserving his team's lead and keeping the visitors at bay.
Ipswich continued their patient build-up play, looking to stretch the game and create openings. Their persistence paid off when a well-worked short corner saw Craig Wiid step up to convert, doubling the lead and effectively sealing the win with a composed finish. It was a huge collective effort from the 12-man squad, who not only secured a coveted clean sheet but also showed exceptional gamesmanship. The performance was a credit to the entire team, with contributions from every player.
Ipswich’s tactical discipline, combined with clinical finishing and solid defensive displays, saw them back to winning ways and ready to push on in the remainder of the season. Looking ahead, Ipswich will need to build on this momentum in their upcoming match against Dereham, where they will aim to keep pushing up the table
Women’s 5s
The women’s 5th team put in a strong performance on 1st Feb vs. Christchurch Ladies 2nds. The first goal came early, scored by Frankie. The 2nd came not long after, scored by Laura, then Christchurch came back from a short corner at the end of the 1st half. 2-1 half time. The atmosphere on the pitch was buzzing from both teams, it was a good spirited game. Alice T scored the 3rd goal about 15mins into the 2nd half followed by another goal from Jess in the dying seconds, with a dominating short corner to finish the game 4-1. Good game all round, a strong team performance. Player of the match went to Alice...
Wally of the game goes to James Wrinch for upsetting his daughter in the game... We also want to thank our coach and assistants on side line along with our regular supporters :) x
Women’s 3s vs Sudbury
The Ladies 3s assembled another strong squad to take on the Sudbury team who sat one spot above us in the league and took home the glory in our last meeting. We were all motivated to avenge a rather poor performance and loss last time out and started well, attacking down the right, through the middle and giving their defence lots of headaches, even on the left. So coach and super sub delighted us all again with her first goal of the day to put us in the lead before Alva, returning from injury, double that lead with a fantastic rebound goal. Sudbury were able to claw one goal back before half time but ours was the more positive team talk at half time. As we started the second half, maybe a bit of complacency crept in and we allowed Sudbury more of the ball and they eventually capitalised with another goal bringing it to a tight 2-2 finale. Thank goodness for super sub’s precision pass to find Summer in the D who tapped in to secure the victory. A great team performance capped off with another win to move us beyond our defeated opponents into 2nd in the league. MoM- Gemma for her incredible and tireless work in the midfield.
