In a nail-biting match, Ipswich's U14 boys held on to win 4-3. Ipswich had the best of the first-half with Richard and Thomas finding the back of the goal with well worked team efforts. Our new goalkeeper James denied Cambridge's forwards any goals in the first half with some great saves. Along with the solid defence who time and again intercepted passes and made strong tackles. Ipswich came out of half-time on a high and Elliot was clinical with his finish one-on-one with the Cambridge keeper, on the end of a fantastic quick break from a failed penalty corner by Cambridge.
Whether we eased off mentally, or were just getting tired from all the hard work, Cambridge found some gaps and scored three very neat goals to bring the game back level with just over ten minutes to go. Ipswich however kept fighting back and with our midfield dynamo Benjie running rings around the Cambridge midfield a well worked attack gave Richard the chance to score, it hit the post - but somehow spun in behind their keeper....GOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAL! With only two minutes on the clock left Cambridge fought back and won a penalty corner as the final whistle went. The first effort resulted in another but the second saw Cambridge shoot wide.
Well done to all for a superb team effort.
